Escape Rooms are fun to play and they are a great way to bond and learn about teamwork. I am sharing a Free Printable Christmas Escape Room for the Whole Family that you can easily play in your house or apartment. There is a fun storyline that you have to follow through the escape room. This is an easy DIY and set up. You do not need envelopes or a lot of cutting or setting etc. You only have to hide the clues at the right places and I am sharing easy to follow setup instructions with each clue. I am also sharing tips and answer keys at the end of this page.

Please ensure that the players complete all the challenges in the correct sequence. If you don’t want the players to visit all the rooms, you can hand over the next challenge sheet when they correctly solve one challenge. However, this game is way more fun if you let the players explore the mentioned rooms, objects, and spaces in the house. Players are not allowed to use their cellphones during gameplay as the main objective of this activity is to spend some screen-free fun time. This Escape Room is suitable for all age groups that are 8+, but younger players can also join the older ones. You can assign a time limit of either 45 minutes or 60 minutes for this challenge. This Escape Room comprises of 9 different challenges and clues and some are really easy but some are difficult.

Supplies needed

• Printed Challenge Sheets
• A pair of scissors
• A mirror somewhere around the house

How to Play

This escape room is pretty easy to set up. You do not need any envelopes. You can fold the printed sheets or just leave them as is. Simply print the clue sheets and cut the ones that require cutting.

Now, hide each clue in the places mentioned with the clue description. Give players 3 tip tickets to players before the game that they can redeem as per the requirement. You can give more tip tickets if players are younger. Players have to complete all the challenges before reaching the end, and the player or team who reaches the end first wins. If only one player or one team is playing, print just one set of all challenges, but in case of more than 1 player or team competing against each other, print duplicate sets of challenges.

Free Printable Hint Tickets for Christmas Escape Room

These are the fun tickets for the Christmas Escape Room. Save the larger printable sheet and print the tickets on cardstock paper. Now, cut the tickets around the edges. You can give the teams or players 3 or more tickets, as per their experience and age. They can redeem the tickets if they get stuck at some point during the Escape Room play. You can use the hint card to share hints with them. You can reveal the whole hint or only a part.

Christmas Escape Room for the Whole Family Clue 1

These are the free printable sheets for the first clue and these need a little preparation. First, click on each sheet and save and print the larger sheets. Now, cut the sheet on the left in half and cut the shapes given at the bottom of the sheet around the edges. The players will need both sheets and the shape cutouts to solve the first clue. You can either hand these items to the players or can hide at an easy to locate place so they can get going and warm up for the rest of the challenges.

This is the second clue sheet for this DIY Christmas Escape Room. This clue is in the form of Tetris tiles. You need to cut this puzzle from the dotted lines and hide the puzzle pieces in the microwave.

This is the printable sheet for clue number 3 for this printable Escape Room. Print it on a regular printer sheet or a cardstock sheet, put it in a freezer bag and hide it in the icebox.

Hide this clue card under a cushion after printing it. This is a simple word search puzzle or maybe its not that simple. 🙂

You need to hide these sheets on a relatively thin paper, as players need to hold both together in front of a light source to read the message. Roll and hide the sheets in a stocking.

Christmas Escape Room Puzzle 7 Free Printable

This Clue or Puzzle also comprises of two sheets. Cut the Cipher wheels around the edges and remove the white part that says ‘cut here’. Now either hide the sheet and the wheels under the sofa or the sheet under the sofa and the wheels at a different place.

This is by far the most challenging puzzle, in my opinion. You need to print both sheets and hide them behind a plant.
