The Lost Mummy, Free Printable Egyptian Escape Room

Our family just loves escape rooms, which is why I try to make more interesting ones that we can print and play at home. The escape room I am sharing today is called The Lost Mummy, Free Printable Egyptian Escape Room. This is a perfect escape room for a birthday party because the story is about the hero’s birthday, but obviously, you can also play this on any other day. There are 8 puzzles, a hints sheet, and an answer key to all the puzzles that I am sharing at the end of this page. This time, I painted some watercolor images that I used in the printable graphics.

You can play this escape room at any normal household setting or in an apartment.

Age Group: 8 plus

This game is suitable for teens, tweens, and adults. It will be hard for younger kids to comprehend.

Supplies Needed

• Printed Game sheets
• Pairs of scissors
• Glue sticks
• Pens or Pencils

There are 8 puzzles or clues in this escape room. You can provide tips to the players if they feel stuck at some place but that is your choice. You can assign a time limit of 45-60 minutes for this game, depending on the age group and previous escape room playing experience of the players.

I am sharing detailed instructions to set up each clue.

It is important that players go through all the challenges in the right sequence. If you don’t want the players to go to all the rooms, you can hand over the next challenge sheet when they correctly solve one challenge however, this game is way more fun if it utilizes the mentioned rooms, objects and spaces in the house. Players are not allowed to use their cellphones during the game play as the main objective of this activity is to spend some screen free fun time.

How to Play

After printing the sheets, you can fold them so it is easier to hide them. You need to hide each puzzle in the places mentioned below. Players have to complete all the challenges before reaching the end, and the player or team who reaches the end first wins. If only one player or one team is playing, print just one set of all challenges, but in case of more than 1 player or team competing against each other, print duplicate sets of challenges.

The Lost Mummy, Free Printable Egyptian Escape Room Puzzle 1

This is the first puzzle for this Free Printable Egyptian Escape Room. After printing the sheet, you can crumple it and put it near the player’s feet or hand it over to them directly. Crumpling is optional, though. Click here to download the PDF.

Ancient Egyptian Escape Room Puzzle 2 Free Printable

This is the second printable sheet for this fun escape room. You need to provide a pair of scissors to the players along with this puzzle. Hide this puzzle inside a pillowcase and also hide a piece of the cutout sarcophagus that I am sharing below. You have to hide one piece of the sarcophagus or coffin with all the rest of the puzzles. This puzzle comprises of two sheets. The players would also need a pair of scissors for this puzzle. You need to hide both puzzle sheets and another piece of the sarcophagus under a rug. Free Printable Ancient Egyptian Escape Room Puzzle 4

This is a fun and challenging puzzle. Creating it was also fun. I used Airdry Clay to create this limestone-like tablet and then digitally placed the hieroglyphs on it. You need to hide all printed sheets, a piece of pharaoh’s coffin and a pair of scissors inside a washing machine. Please ensure that it is switched off and unplugged. This puzzle also comprises of three printable sheets. You can either cut and assemble the tetrahedron for the players or you can hide a pair of scissors and a glue stick along with the printed sheets. This puzzle should be hidden inside an oven.
